On Wednesday 20th February, Crosthwaite Parish Rooms in Keswick hosted the annual 3 Way Battle between Penrith, Carlisle and Keswick Camera Clubs. It’s a friendly annual contest, full of good-natured banter, and consists of 15 PDI images from each Club, which this year was judged by Richard Speirs DPAGB, BPE2* of Morton CC.
Penrith have always felt it’s important to enter images from a wide range of members, including beginners, and we only allow 1 image per author. A small committee then chooses which photographs will represent our Club and this year’s entries can be seen below:
Out to Grass by Kath Brown
Watching by Mike Whelan
From the Heavens by John Williams
Spring Posy by Karen McLellan
Towards Canary Wharf at dusk by John Tillotson
Waiting for the rain to stop by Jo Knight
Winter Light by Andrew Leaney
Deep in thought by Nicky Robley
Antarctic Shag by Ian Cassely
Kingfisher with reflection by Stuart Edgar
Guajiro by Mike Hughes
Ancient and Modern by Russell Bulman
Destitute in Morocco by Dave Connell
Blue Eyes by Ian Hadley
Art Deco Staircase by Les Ayres
And the winners were:
- 1st Keswick with 266 points.
- 2nd Penrith with 254 points.
- 3rd Carlisle with 246 points.
The Judge’s favourite image of the evening was ‘The Aracari and The Fly’, by a member of Keswick PS.
Our very own JDT won the raffle, bringing home a small book of Ansel Adams pictures, and a good night was had by all!
For those club members chosen to take part in the Battle your image scores can be found in the Members’ Section of our website.
